CURTAIN INSTALLATION MANUAL

How do you install your new curtains?

Our BlindsBox way makes it easy for you!

TOOLS REQUIRED

Based on our experience you will need the below to successfully install your curtains safely and precisely:

  • Power drill – we recommend cordless but it’s not mandatory
  • The correct fixings for the surface that the curtains will be installed on
  • Spirit level
  • Sturdy stepladder
  • Pencil
  • A buddy to help

INSIDE THE BOX

  • Either Face Fit or Ceiling Fit Brackets

  • Plastamates that you may use if required

  • Track

  • Flick Sticks

  • Curtain Fabric

TRACK PREPARATION

First, you need to mark where the track will be installed with a pencil.

  • If you are wall mounting (i.e. face fitting), your marking should correspond with the drop measurement you specified in your order. So, to make sure your marking is in the right place you can use a measuring tape to measure your drop from the floor.
  • If you are ceiling mounting, mark where on the ceiling you would like your track to be mounted, ensuring this is a minimum of 50mm from the wall.

Mark a few places along the wall/ceiling to make it easier to line up your curtain track correctly.

Now once you are able to place your curtain track along the markings you made, we want to mark the bracket screw points using the brackets as a template. It’s important to keep the curtain track level throughout this process. This is where a spirit level and a buddy will come in handy.

To test the stability of the bracket fixings, drive the screws partway through the plaster at the marked bracket points. If there is no timber behind the plaster, you will need to install the brackets using Plastamates or the equivalent fixings.

Now that you have established your bracket fixing points, you can now hang your curtain track. Simply lift the track into position and install the screws through the brackets into the holes you have made. Once completed, please check use a spirit level to check that your track is level. You can use the elongation on the brackets to slightly adjust the track up or down if required.

FLICK STICK

Now that your track is hung, install the flick stick into the flick stick carrier of the curtain. For centre-opening curtains you will need to install 2.

HANGING YOUR CURTAIN

Hang the curtain over your shoulder, and locate one of the ends. Secure the pendants into the clips along the track, ensuring you don’t skip any. You may need a stepladder to reach the clips.

Once the curtain has been hung, you now need to push and pull the fabric to create the S-Fold.
